Learn about our Monkey River/Manantee Watch Tour & Placencia Visit

From Hopkins, you will take a 1 hour drive  on the Southern Highway to the Village of Placencia where a boat will pick you up for a ride through the lagoon and out to sea and to the mouth of the Monkey River.

The boat ride maneuvers  through the mangrove estuaries that line the mainland and up the Monkey River.

Keep your eyes open for some of the amazing wildlife Belize has to offer, like  iguanas, gibnut, crocodiles, turtles and black howler monkeys.

For bird lovers, this is your opportunity to add some exotic species to your list.  The trip also includes a visit to the Village of Monkey River and a local style lunch.

Monkey River Town is the northernmost village in the Toledo District. This small, sleepy Creole village of 200 people sits on the southern bank of the mouth of the Monkey River.

On the way back to Placencia spot some gentle manatees.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don’t we have an automated booking system?

We have found through experience that the old-fashioned way of interacting and discussing specific adventures with each potential guest enables us to best deliver you the adventures of a lifetime!  It is very difficult to implement an automated system that can navigate through all the variables, but our friendly staff will be happy to walk you through creating the best itinerary for you.
