Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary is world-renowned as the first Jaguar Preserve, but its real magic lies in the lush rainforest, scenic mountain views, and peaceful nature trails. While jaguars are rarely seen, the park offers incredible opportunities to observe wildlife, spot bird species, and experience Belize’s jungle at its best.
Explore vibrant flora, hidden waterfalls, and the sounds of nature along the trails. You may encounter animal tracks from tapirs, deer, and wildcats, and spot colorful birds among the treetops.

Cockscomb Night Hike
Experience the jungle after dark as it comes alive with nocturnal sounds and movement. With your headlamp on, you’ll venture along trails such as Rubber Tree Trail, River Path Trail, or Curassow Trail, guided by an expert who’ll help you spot animals like owls, kinkajous, marine toads, and occasionally even a tapir or wild pig.
